
English Language
The English Department at Castle Peak Catholic Primary School works hard to ensure that learning English is interesting, engaging and challenging. Our English teachers work together to provide students with abundant opportunities to develop their English skills inside and outside the classroom.
1. Harrow English Program
Some of our outstanding students were invited by Mr Brandan Shanahan of Harrow International Schools, HK., to join their English learning programme last year. Our students took part in Harrow’s Super-Curriculum activities. They enjoyed interacting with the Harrow students very much.




2. Rural Schools Service Project (CUHK exchanged students visit)
Our school joined the Rural Schools Service Project which is organised by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Exchange students were invited to our school to conduct language games with our primary 1 students during interest group sessions.




3. Rural Schools Service Project (Happy English Learning)
Our “Happy English Learning” program helps students use English in fun ways. For Lunar New Year, we explored sugar painting, enjoyed booth games, and watched a lion dance. At Mid-Autumn, students made lanterns and enjoyed simple themed booth activities. At the English Day Camp, we prepared booth games, and practised speaking with friends in English. Together, these events built confidence, teamwork, and joy.










4. Choral Speaking (75th Hong Kong Speech Festival)
35 Primary 5 and 6 girls participated in the Choral Speaking Competition in November. We got the second place!


5. Solo Verse Speaking (75th Hong Kong Speech Festival)
52 students participated the solo verse speaking competition in the 75th Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival. Congratulations to Cheung Yuen Ching, Jaimee(5A), Yeung Cheuk Yui (4A) and Ho Chin Lok (3D) for winning the second prize, and Chan Miu Ka (6A) and Li Pak Yin (4A) for winning the third prize!





6. English Fridays
To create a language-rich learning environment, teachers and students had interesting English games at lunchbreaks. Our English ambassadors are always helpful and caring.






7. Shung Tak Writing Competition
Our primary 5 and 6 students were invited by Shung Tak Catholic English College to join their writing competition. They wrote a mystery story about having a Biology interest class in an AI Academy.









8. Shung Tak Challenge (STC)
10 primary 6 students were invited by Shung Tak Catholic English College to join this event. There students could play English language games and learn about secondary school lives.



9. English Drama
With the help of our NET, Miss Melody, 15 students were selected to perform an amusing drama showcase. The show debuted at Tuen Mun Catholic Secondary School in the Talent Show in June, 2025.





10. Battle of the Books
8 students joined the Battle of the Books, a friendly inter-school reading contest. In this event, teams read a curated list of titles and then compete in fast-paced quizzes to demonstrate comprehension, recall, and teamwork. Our students trained regularly, built strong reading habits, and gained confidence while collaborating with peers. We are proud of their effort and the joy of reading they shared with our school community.



11. English Day
English Day was held after Assessment 3. Students played group games in class with their English teachers, participated in an exciting inter-class English competition and carried out a Choral Speaking performance on stage.






12. Excursion to Melbourne
11 primary 5 students travelled to Melbourne with their teachers from 28 June to 5 July,2024. They visited many famous places such as Queen Victoria Market, Scienceworks, Immigration Museum, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, State Library Victoria, Koala and Animal Park, The University of Melbourne, etc. They had a local school tour, too. This learning programme was certainly very fruitful and unforgettable.








13. English Elite Classes
20 students were chosen to join the English Elite Classes in P.4 and P.5. Led by our NET, Miss Melody, students participated actively and confidently in writing scripts and reports, making comics, acting out in role plays and debates.ble.
